Activities in downtown Alba Saturday for the Life After Meth Ministries included a pie eating contest, motorcycle rally, music and dunking booth. Over $200 was raised for the christian organization, which serves those whose life has been derailed by meth. more
Faith Baptist Church in Quitman hosted a block party to mark the end of the school year in their parking lot Friday evening. Dozens of kids enjoyed a petting zoo, tractor rides, inflatable castle with slide, games, snacks, face painting, balloon animals, and a cake walk. Pastor Mike Midkiff presented $100 on behalf of the church to each of the Quitman schools – elementary, junior high, and high school – plus the Quitman Police and Fire Departments, totaling $500 donated. Tours of the church facilities were given, hot dogs and cotton candy were served, and summer was ushered in with style. more

Former Dallas Cowboys players Kenneth Gant and Lincoln Coleman Jr. assisted Sheriff Tom Castloo in handing out the hardware to 18 outstanding anglers. Cash Harrison from Celina pulled in a 6.38-pound catfish, netting him the overall prize for the largest catch in any age or classification. more
