Symphonic band presents Christmas concert
Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.
Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
Skateboarders flock to new concrete park in Mineola
The park has been dubbed the best in the East Texas area, and promises to get even better when the second phase can be implemented.
Primary elections contested
Republican voters in Wood County will have four locally contested races when they go to the polls for the March 5 primary.
Filing concluded on Monday, and there will be contests in two of the four constable precincts and both contested commissioner precincts.
QDC approves changes in plans for new hotel
Plans for a hotel and apartments off Goldsmith St. due south of Brookshire’s Grocery in Quitman were approved for some changes by the Quitman Development Corp. Monday.
2024 eclipse could present public safety challenges
The potential for an onslaught of visitors to overwhelm various services before and during the April 8 total eclipse drew representatives of the county and most Wood County cities to a meeting with state officials last Tuesday in Quitman.
