Alba-Golden, Mineola and Quitman baseball and softball teams took advantage of the tournament season this past weekend as they prepare for district openers. The Alba-Golden Lady Panthers softball team was the only idle team this weekend, although they have recorded a 9-0 season start. They started district play at 5 p.m. Tuesday March 5 at Rains. more

The Mineola Yellowjackets labored through a sub-par first quarter in their regional quarterfinal loss to the James Madison Trojans Feb. 26 at Forney High School gymnasium. Although the Jackets battled back and were within striking distance at the mid-point of the fourth quarter, a seven-point Madison run ended Mineola’s season. more
