South Carolina fisherman triumphs at Toyota Bassmaster Texas Fest

Brandon Cobb, an elite angler from South Carolina, won his second Elite Series bass fishing title after becoming champion at the Toyota Bassmaster Texas Fest at Lake Fork on Monday.

Cobb reeled a four-day total of 114 pounds of bass while competing May 2-6. With his first-place win, he earned $125,000 in prize money. He won his first Elite Series just last month at Lake Hartwell in South Carolina.

“This week just fell into place,” Cobb said of competing and winning Texas Fest. “It has been awesome.”

In addition to the championship, Cobb also caught the heaviest bass (11 pounds and one ounce) of the tournament, which earned him a 2019 Toyota Tundra. The 11-pounder was a personal best for the fisherman.

“That’s the biggest fish I’ve caught, and this lake is unbelievable,” Cobb said at the third weigh-in on Sunday. more
