17th COVID-19 related county death reported
Wood County has surpassed 500 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and added one death in the past week.
According to the Northeast Texas Public Health District, a 92-year-old Mineola woman was the latest victim.
That brings COVID-related deaths to 17 for the county, with nine in the Mineola ZIP code, seven in Winnsboro and one in Alba.
The case count reached 507 Monday, with an additional 63 possible cases pending final test results. One of the deaths is listed as a probable COVID-19 case.
The case count includes 199 in Mineola, 104 in Quitman, 75 in Winnsboro, 53 in Alba, 34 in Yantis and 30 in Hawkins.
The state reports 4,321 county residents have been tested for the viral disease.
The state also reports 17 deaths in county nursing homes as of Sept. 7.
