4-H Forecast


The Annual Wood County 4-H Food Show was held recently with 4-H members of all ages exhibiting a food dish they had prepared and participating in a judged interview. The participants were:

Junior Grains - 1st Place Raleigh Rhodes, 2nd Ashtin Tullos, 3rd Katelyn DeGorostiza;

Junior Fruit / Vegetables - 1st Place Kasey Rhodes, 2nd place Maggie Finley, 3rd place Breanna Irby; Junior Dairy-1st Place Jackson Wallis;

Intermediate Fruits/Vegetables - 1st Helena Bautista, 2nd Place Emma Gilbreath; Intermediate Protein - 1st Alexus Richey;

Senior Fruits / Vegetables - 1st Place Jenna Haney; Senior Dairy - 1st Place Kierney Wallis; Senior Protein - 1st Place Grayson Cox, 2nd Place Haydee Lin, 3rd Place Jentri Jackson;

4-H Clover Kids - Lucas DeGorostiza, Jocelyn Cox, Rhett Cox and Austin Tullos.

First place winners will now advance to the District 4-H Food Extravaganza, set for Feb. 3 at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. In addition to the Food Show, Wood County 4-H will also have 4-H’ers competing in the Food Challenge contest and Food / Nutrition poster contest.  Senior 4-H members who win first place at district will earn the opportunity to advance to state competition at 4-H Round-Up at Texas A&M in June.
