4-H’ers win at food challenge

Wood County 4-H Food Challenge teams competed with teams from District 5 to bring home some of the top awards at the recent District 4-H Food Challenge Event.

The teams were judged  on their knowledge of MyPlate/nutrition knowledge, food preparation, food safety, and the presentation of the food dish they prepared as well as effectiveness of communication.

Colleene McMurphy served as coach of these teams and put in many hours working with the Food Challenge team members.

Wood County Food Challenge teams included the following:

Junior (Red Hot Chili Preppers)-1st Place; Intermediate (Grape Expectations)-3rd Place; Intermediate (Team Cuisine); Senior (E-Lemon-ators)-1st Place (Advancing to State Round-Up at Texas A&M in June)
