Deputy Steven Fields and Sgt. Brad Cates were dispatched to Holly Lake Ranch for an agency assist. Holly Lake Ranch Security advised a man had become combative when EMS attempted to ascertain if he was in need of medical attention. A HLR security officer advised he had been assaulted by the man. Jeffrey Allan Reece, 50, of Holly Lake Ranch was arrested and transported to jail but not without incident. Reece pushed and kicked on the window of the patrol unit with his boots and used vulgar language during the trip to jail. He is charged with assault on a security officer, a third degree felony. Bond was set at $10,000.

Deputy Teri Altman took a report of an assault that occurred at Holly Lake Ranch. The victim stated she was assaulted by her boyfriend after they began arguing over their living arrangements. The woman stated she was placed in a choke hold and became faint and fell to the ground at which time her boyfriend began punching her in the eyes, nose and ears. The man also reportedly grabbed the woman's hair and slammed her head onto the pavement. Deputy Altman noted injuries to the woman consistent with her version of the attack. The suspect left the scene with his mother allowing the woman to leave and go to a convenience store nearby where she encountered an acquaintance who agreed to drive her to her father's house. Altman summoned EMS to check the woman's injuries but despite emergency personnel's recommendation that she be transported to the hospital, the woman refused. Altman photographed the woman's injuries and forwarded the case to CID for warrant review.

Deputy Dustin Moffett was dispatched to PR 5937 in reference to a disturbance that had just occurred. The complainant advised he was assaulted by his brother who had since left the residence on foot. Moffett noted the complainant had a torn shirt and visible red marks near his neck consistent with his story of being attacked following a disagreement with his brother over ceiling fans. Sgt. William Burge was able to locate the suspect near the scene and speak with him. The suspect admitted grabbing the complainant's shirt during the argument. Burge noted the man did not have any visible injuries. Gerald Richard Shaffer, 65, of Emory was arrested and transported to jail. He is charged with injury to child/ elderly/disabled with intent bodily injury, a third degree felony. Bond was set at $5,000.

Deputy Donivan South was dispatched to CR 2952 in the Alba area after a woman called to say her neighbor's pit bull had come onto her porch and attacked her small dog, leaving two puncture wounds in her dog's neck. The woman did not wish to pursue charges against the neighbor but did wish the neighbor to be aware of what her dog had done. South made contact with the pit bull's owner and after she learned what her dog had done, she penned it and another dog at the location in the kennel located in the back yard. The woman was given a citation for failure to vaccinate her dog, a Class C misdemeanor.

Sgt. William Burge took a report of criminal mischief from a complainant who owns a weekend cabin on CR 1970. The owner advised she had arrived to find all the cabinets had been gone through as well as several bags containing various types of paperwork. Nothing was deemed to be missing from the cabin. The side and rear entry doors did sustain damage from a pry tool. The rear entry door was kicked open causing damage to the door jamb. The property damage is estimated at $515. This case has been assigned to an investigator.

Sgt. Chris Turner took a report of a dog bite that occurred on CR 2465. The victim reported he was running along the county road when he was approached by two dogs. One of the dogs managed to bite the man on the leg from behind. Turner made contact with the dog's owner and advised her she would need to have the dog quarantined for a period of 10 days in compliance with state law.

Deputy Steven Fields took a report from the maintenance man at a church on CR 2270 who stated lawn care equipment had been stolen from a storage shed on church property. The missing equipment includes an Echo weed eater, John Deere riding lawn mower, Echo blower and a Poulan hedge trimmer. The reporting party was unable to give values for the stolen equipment. This case has been forwarded and remains under investigation.

Deputy Justin Bowring and Sgt. Brad Cates responded to the pier at Lake Winnsboro in response to a report of a disturbance. Witnesses informed the deputies that two men were fighting and both had since left the area - one on foot and one in an older model white car. Bowring located the subject on foot. The man stated he had gotten into a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend's brother and did not wish to pursue charges in the matter. Bowing placed the man in custody for public intoxication. Trevor R. Seabolt, 22, of Scroggins was transported to jail without incident. Sgt. Cates made contact with the father of the second subject who stated his son was fine and did not wish to pursue charges.

Sgt. Brad Cates took a report of terroristic threat from a woman who stated a man threatened to harm her son following an altercation between the man's children and her children. The woman further stated the father of the other children called her and told her he was on his way to the skating rink and he was going to kill her 8 year old son. The man apparently also called the woman's 9 year old daughter and told her the same thing, causing the girl to become extremely upset. The woman stated she did wish to pursue charges in the matter. This case has been forwarded to CID for additional investigation.

Deputy Aaron Warren was dispatched to an address on FM 1799 for a report of criminal trespass. The resident at the address stated her son was on the property and was prohibited from being there due to an active criminal trespass warning. When Warren arrived, the man had already departed and was believed to be hiding in the woods which is a common practice for the subject. The woman was told to call if her son returned. The son was later located sitting in a recliner at the address. Christopher Curtis Freeman, 34, of Quitman was arrested for criminal trespass and was transported to jail without incident.

Sgt. Chris Turner took a report from four young men who stated a man had pointed a pistol in their direction and then fired four shots in their direction. The men explained they had been traveling along FM 1795 and come upon a slow moving older model Ford Ranger, occupied by a driver they recognized and a passenger unfamiliar to them, and as they started to pass the pickup, the driver pointed a pistol at them and began firing. According to the men, they then sped up to get away. The men were later forced to drive through a ditch at a stop sign when the passenger in the Ford Ranger got out and started toward them. All parties involved wished to pursue charges against the driver of the pickup for deadly conduct. This case was forwarded to CID Sgt. Jacob Richardson who took written statements from the men in which they all identified the shooter. Richardson's investigation is ongoing.

Deputy Austin Cryer was dispatched to a residence on CR 1215 in reference to an open door. Upon arrival, Cryer found both the front door of the residence and the door to a storage building open. A brief survey of the storage building lead Cryer to believe the door had been blown open by the wind. The front door, however, had pry marks and one of the hinges was found on the floor. Cryer found the residence to be in order and noted that it did not appear as if anything was missing. Unable to properly secure the door, Cryer made contact with the homeowner, who was currently out of town, and advised him of the situation. This case has been assigned to an investigator.

Deputy Austin Cryer took a report of theft from a woman on Lloyd Street in Yantis. The woman reported that an antique wash pot had been stolen from her yard overnight. The woman advised the pot was full of potting soil and due to the weight she believed it would take two people to lift it. The wash pot is valued at $50. This case remains under investigation.

Deputy Austin Cryer was dispatched to a location on SH 37 in reference to a suspicious vehicle and arrived to find a white Dodge pickup stuck in a field approximately 75 yards from the highway. A black Toyota pickup was also in the field and Cryer made contact with its driver who stated his uncle had fallen asleep and drove off into the field. The man also advised his uncle was in the back seat and being driven home as they were unable to get this white pickup unstuck. Cryer spoke to the man's uncle and immediately detected the odor of alcohol and signs that the man was intoxicated. The uncle was issued a citation for public intoxication. The man's nephew advised he would be removing his uncle's truck from the field with a tractor. This case is closed.

Sgt. Chris Turner was dispatched to CR 3235 in reference to a theft. A woman reported several items had been taken from her property and she suspected her ex-husband was responsible. The missing items include a chop saw, a wench and a charger. All of the missing items had been recently awarded to her in a divorce decree. In addition, a 2007 Ford Focus, belonging to a friend of the complainant, had its tires punctured. The complainant stated she did wish to pursue charges in the matter. The case remains under investigation by CID.

Deputies Kevin Atkinson and James Hildebrand along with Sgt. Sam Threadgill arrested Sean Clay Earle, 25 and Brian Clay Earle, 52, both of Yantis and Brooke Sierra Hayward, 20, of Sulphur Springs following a call to CR 1885 in reference to a noise complaint. Multiple residents of the county road complained that the Earles were driving on the county roads at all hours of the night revving their truck motors preventing them from sleeping. The arrests were the result of the deputies' contact with the Earles during which Sean fled from deputies and kicked out a window on a patrol unit in order to escape custody. Sean's father, Clay Earle, and Hayward, a passenger in the truck operated by Sean, were both arrested for interfering with the deputies who were attempting to take Sean Earle into custody and for resisting arrest.

Deputy Terri Altman took a report of a stolen fire pit from a complainant on CR 2146. According to the man, he is not a full time resident and returned after a two week absence to discover the fire pit missing. The pit is valued at $150. This case was forwarded for additional investigation.

Deputy Terri Altman took a report of burglary of a habitation from a woman who resides on FM 14. The woman stated she had been out of town for several days and returned to find that someone had been inside her home. Beers were found to be missing from the refrigerator and DVDs were missing as well. In addition, the home's thermostat had been altered. Although the homeowner found the door's two locks secure when she arrived, Deputy Altman found evidence the door had been tampered with. Altman also recorded information about a possible suspect. The case has been forwarded to CID and remains under investigation.

Deputy Terri Altman took a report of credit card abuse from a man on CR 2700 who advised he had received a letter from his bank advising him his account had been frozen due to possible fraudulent charges on the account. The charges were all made in the Austin area and the complainant advised he had not been to Austin nor had he authorized anyone to use his card. An incident report was completed for documentation purposes.

Sgt. Robert Holland obtained a misdemeanor warrant for Brandon Desean Hines for theft $50 or more but less than $500. Hines allegedly stole property from students at Jarvis College and pawned it in Tyler. All property was recovered and returned to its owner. Hines remains at large at this time.

Sgt. Holland obtained a misdemeanor warrant for Roy Gene Dunn for deadly conduct following an investigation into an incident where Dunn allegedly confronted two men at Lake Hawkins and pointed a gun at them for allowing their dogs to run at large.

Gt. Josh O'Grady was able to locate numerous stolen items in the Mineola area this week. These items have been linked to burglaries that occurred in the Yantis, Quitman, and Winnsboro areas. Suspects have already been identified and warrants are being sought at this time.

Sgt. O'Grady has been investigating a burglary of a habitation which was reported from the Winnsboro area within the past two weeks. Suspects have been identified in this case as well and warrants are being requested for their arrest at this time.

O'Grady is also still obtaining evidence in a recent theft that occurred in the Quitman/Yantis area. O'Grady is attempting to located several witnesses to obtain statements so that the suspect(s) can be held accountable.
