Alba-Golden and Yantis earned titles at the second annual Alba-Golden Spring Tennis Tourney March 8.

Alba-Golden, Quitman and Yantis tennis players competed. According to Alba-Golden tennis coach Dana Wade, creative mixing of both skill level and school affiliation made for a great learning environment in the morning and excellent afternoon head-to-head competition.

The Yantis girls tandem of Ashten Burnett and Hope Dixon took the girls double title. Fellow Yantis schoolmates Maddie and Maggie Hooker earned second place.

The Alba-Golden boys double team of Byron Wade and Gabe Barnett earned the doubles title in round robin play. Jacob Harle and Nathan Kumm, also of Alba-Golden, finished second.

In double elimination play, Alba-Golden’s William Hartin claimed the title with an undefeated performance. Yantis’ Will Graham was the runner-up.

Alba-Golden’s next varsity tennis tourney will be Monday March 18 at home against Grand Saline. The Quitman tennis team will travel to Van on Friday March 22 to participate in the Van varsity tournament.
