AG boards set special meeting on superintendent
Longtime Alba-Golden ISD Superintendent Dwayne Ellis appears be on his way out.
The school board has called a special meeting Thursday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. in the high school library.
According to the agenda, the board plans to again have a private consultation with its attorney and discuss superintendent contract negotiations. They have left the possibilities of action open with three options:
- Discussion and possible action concerning selection of attorney for negotiations between board of trustees and superintendent.
- Discussion and negotiation regarding superintendent contract with possible action for separation agreement.
- Discussion and possible action on appointment of an interim superintendent.
In a closed session in January, the board discussed Ellis’ evaluation and contract but postponed a decision to extend or deny. The open forum became heated when residents and teachers defended Ellis.
The next week, the board consulted with its attorney in a special meeting, but no action was taken.
Neither Ellis nor board President Jason Stovall have responded to requests for comments.
