AG superintendent retiring
Alba-Golden ISD Superintendent Cole McClendon announced last week that he will be retiring at the end of the school year.
McClendon is in his second year at the helm of the district.
His resignation is effective June 30.
“After 30 years of service, including 11 years as a superintendent of schools, I believe it is time to pass the torch to begin the next chapter of my life,” he said in a letter.
“The reason behind retirement is solely a personal decision that I have contemplated for awhile,” he said. “Spending more time with a growing family and a precious grandchild is my goal. Hopefully, opportunities might present themselves outside of education that I might pursue but also balance well with my personal life. My retirement should not be taken as any negative indication, as I have loved my time in Alba-Golden ISD.”
He said that he gave his resignation in advance to allow for a smooth transition.
The next school board meeting will be Monday, Jan. 24.
