Alana “Sam” Marlow Coburn, 1946-2021

Alana “Sam” Marlow Coburn, 74, passed on Feb. 18, 2021, in Winnsboro.  

Alana Coburn was born the daughter of Roy Pratt Marlow and Mary Evelyn McLarty Criswell June 11, 1946 in Douglasville, Ga.

Alana is survived by her husband, Charlie Albert Coburn; a stepdaughter, Monica Leigh Coburn; and a stepson, Charles Wayne Coburn (Jamie); a brother, Garry Marlow (Rhonda;) and a sister, Rhonda Rigsbee (Jimmy). She has five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Alana was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Larry Marlow; and stepdaughter, Cynthia Lynn Coburn Davis.

Alana moved from Georgia to Texas in the early 1970s and met Charlie Albert Coburn. They were married on March 27, 1976. They lived in Dallas for about 15 years before buying land and building a life in Quitman. 

Alana was a career nurse at Heritage Nursing Home and East Texas Medical in Quitman. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She was baptized as a teen and carried her faith through prayer.

Alana never met a stranger.  She loved everyone she met, and they loved her. She enjoyed fishing in her pond and playing card games and board games with family and friends. She loved to travel and be with family and her dog, Tiki. Alana was a loving wife and a special kind of mom to many.

Cremation has been accorded. Services will be private.
