Alba area sees pipeline work

A joint venture announced last spring has brought some heavy pipeline construction activity to the Alba area.

The Red River crude oil pipeline, which was constructed several years ago to connect Cushing, Okla. and Longview, is being upgraded.

According to news from several industry publications in late May, pumping capacity is being increased from 150,000 barrels per day to 235,000 barrels.

Delek Logistics Partners purchased a 33% ownership interest in the pipeline from Plains All Amercian Pipeline for $128 million in support of the project.

The work is along County Road 1522, which is off FM 17 north-northeast of Alba.

It is expected to be completed during the first half of the year.
