Memorial services for Novella Stansel, 85, were held April 26, 2013.

Mrs. Stansel passed away March 19, 2013.

She was born March 26, 1928 in Mineola to Roy and Ella Armstrong.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, 1 brother, husbands, Harry Stansel and O.B. Spears and 2 granddaughters, Many Spears and Christy Williams.

Survivors include daughters, Marcella Champion, Kathy Spears Vandergriff, and Linda Duree, all of Quitman, sons and daughters-inlaw, David and Patricia Spears, and Jimmy and Sandy Spears, all of Quitman, 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
