Alba-Golden boys and girls rack up wins over Lone Oak
The Alba-Golden varsity basketball teams took big steps forward on Jan. 29 in securing their respective playoff spots with victories over the Lone Oak Buffaloes and Lady Buffaloes.
The boys are battling to secure the third or fourth spot in district standings. Their remaining schedule: Friday, Feb. 8 home against Edgewood, and Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Rains High School.
The Lady Panthers turned in a solid performance on Jan. 29 against Lone Oak. Grace Bizzell, Ginny Carson and Sammi Rambsel all scored in double figures, while Carson led the team in rebounding.
The Lady Panthers opened a 15-point lead after three quarters of play and hung on for a 59-51 victory. The win advanced their playoff cause in District 12 3A.
