Alba-Golden falls in four in first game back

The Alba-Golden Lady Panthers returned to action last Saturday in a tough match against the Quinlan Boles Lady Hornets. The Lady Panthers secured game three but lost the match 20-25, 14-25, 25-23, 20-25.

Although the team was eager to resume play with a big win, the powerful front row of the home-side Lady Hornets was too much to overcome.

Alba-Golden leveraged some great play from Crimson Bryant to take a 9-5 lead early in game one. The game was knotted at 13 and again at 18 with solid production from Kalli Wright and Hope Wiley. Quinlan Boles forced several Lady Panther mis-hits to prevail in the opener.

The Lady Panthers lost focus in game two which evolved into a bit of a scramble as the Lady Hornets rode the momentum.

A resounding block by Wright and aces by Bryant and Cacie Lennon propelled Alba-Golden to their game three win. The team demonstrated resiliency throughout the match.

The Lady Panthers had perhaps their best game in game four. Great hustle and challenging play at the net highlighted their efforts. The hard-hitting Lady Hornet front line was able, however, to find the seams in the Alba-Golden defense to secure the match.

The next opportunity to support the Lady Panthers is Friday at home against Como Pickton. Varsity starts at 4:30 p.m.
