The search for a new superintendent for Alba-Golden ISD was narrowed to three candidates last week.

The school district received 57 completed applications for the position, and the school board decided to interview six. Those interviews were held over a three-day period, after which that list was trimmed to three candidates.

The board held one interview each night this week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The lone finalist is expected to be named at the regular school board meeting Monday, June 8.

Following a state-mandated 21-day waiting period, the candidate then could be extended a contract at the end of June.

Former Superintendent Dwayne Ellis accepted an early retirement agreement on Feb. 24.
