Alba Library and Museum
Yes, Alba is quite a small community, yet its library and museum do a brisk business. The library hosts the more elderly reader to the smallest children who come in every Thursday for their reading time and their arts and crafts.
For all ages, the library offers the most up-to-date authors and titles – fiction and non-fiction. New books arrive weekly. The shelves overflow with books. In fact, if one would like to research history, the library owns many books with extensive information on the ancient world, along with a well-stocked selection on world wars, American Civil War, World War I and II, Vietnam, etc. Christian books – fiction and non-fiction – are checked out often.
The library possesses a well-stocked children’s area full of board books and easy reading. The juvenile section is jam packed with appropriate level books. The young adult section teems with books read in school classes.
That is to say, the Alba Public Library and Museum is undergoing tremendous growth. If the library does not have a title or author a patron wants to read, the library orders it.
Of interest to many readers are books written by local authors. An example is the book by Justin Kratzmeyer entitled “Seeking Immanuel.” A short book, it tells the story of a group of men from the East searching for a special child. After great hardship following a star, only three men remain to find the special child. Each man bestows his gift to the special child. The story is an old one but from a totally different perspective. Kratzmeyer publishes his books himself so he can control the sharing of his book without hindrance from others. His next book is “Still Seeking Immanuel” coming out in October. Kratzmeyer prepares taxes and lives in Mineola.
The Alba Public Library and Museum invites everyone to its 15th anniversary celebration coming in 2026. The library will keep everyone posted.
