Alba will be the first to kick off Wood County holiday festivities with Christmas on the Square and Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 30.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting, and a DJ will be playing Christmas tunes. Hot cider and cocoa will be available to keep you warm and toasty.

The first ever Alba lighted Christmas parade, themed “Small Town Christmas,” will begin lining up at 5 p.m. Float judging will also begin at 5 p.m. First place award is $150, second place is $100 and third place is $50.

The parade will step off at 5:30 p.m. Candy will not be thrown, but walkers may pass out candy.

After the parade, Alba volunteer fire department will be serving chili for donations, which will be used to offset the cost for recent truck repairs.

The finale will be the Tree Lighting Ceremony, followed by a drawing for a $500 gift card.

Raffle tickets for the gift card are being sold by the events committee and can be purchased at Alba City Hall any time leading up to the parade and during the parade. Buy tickets for $1 each or 6 for $5. Proceeds benefit the Alba food pantry.
