Alice (Clapp) Buckley 1931-2019

Alice (Clapp) Buckley of Mineola passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019 in Willow Park at age 87. Alice was born on Oct. 5, 1931 in Blessing to the late Harvey Clapp and Josephine (Nadoch) Clapp. After graduating from Louise High School as salutatorian, she attended nursing school becoming an LVN. Alice married Cassel Buckley on June 4, 1951 and was a proud farmer’s wife for 45 years most of which was spent in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. After retiring from farming, Alice and her husband moved to Mineola where she was an active member of the Harvest Acres Baptist Church, TOPS group and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cassel; brother, Harvey Clapp; and two sisters, Lena Dorsey and Edith Linton.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Marie Bishop and husband, Charlie, of Arab, Ala.; two sons - Bill Buckley of Victoria and Douglas Buckley and his wife, Ellen, of Weatherford; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A viewing was planned Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. at Beaty Funeral Home, 5320 S. State Hwy. 37, Mineola.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019 at Harvest Acres Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. David Burcham presiding. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Cemetary in Winnsboro. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to Harvest Acres Baptist Church, hospice or a charity of choice.
