Angela LaForge 1937-2022

Angela “Mardy” LaForge, 85, of Kenosha, Wis., formerly of Mineola, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022 at Brookdale Senior Living after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1937 in Groom to the late Reuel Smith and Nellie (Crist) Fulgham. She was educated in local schools. 

In 1955, she married Edward “Eddie” LaForge. Aside from being a homemaker, she worked at Glenview Naval Air Station in Glenview, Ill. with Eddie for many years. She retired to Mineola, where she also worked at Catfish Heaven in Lindale and the Hallmark Store in Mineola. 

Mardy enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making stuffed animals and puppets. She loved Christmas and would decorate her entire house with more than 20 Christmas trees. Hosting family and friends for Christmas and Thanksgiving with her husband was amongst her favorite memories. She was also a Hallmark ornament collector. 

She is survived by her sons; William (Jeanette) LaForge of Mineola and Frank (Regina) LaForge of Bristol, Wis.; nine grandchildren; five grandchildren with one on the way; and one brother, Ronnie Smith. She is survived by other loving family and friends.

Mardy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Arrangements were entrusted to Proko Funeral Home. Per Mardy’s request no services were held.
