Annie Lois Hudgens Monroe, 1923-2020

Graveside services for Annie Lois Hudgens Monroe, 97, of Alba were held at noon Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Enon Cemetery with Bro. Byron George officiating. 

Mrs. Monroe passed away July 15, 2020 in Mineola. She was born Jan. 19, 1923 in Dallas to Robert Louis and Bertha Alma Harman Hudgens. Annie worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War Two for Rockwell Collins Radio. She had lived in Wood County the last 19 years where she was a member of Bright Star Baptist Church. Annie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar Vernon Monroe; children, Gary Travis Monroe, Linda Chase and Arlene Schwab; two grandsons, Gary Travis “Bubba” Monroe and Mark Schwab; five sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include her brother, Kenneth Hudgens; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; twenty-two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. 

The family received friends from 10-11:30 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday before the service.
