Tickets are on sale for the 53rd Annual Mineola Hay Show which will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Mineola Civic Center featuring entertainment by Charles Petty. Tickets can be purchased at Mineola Civic Center for $10.

Petty is a professional motivation speaker and a member of the National Speaker Hall of Fame which includes such notables as Zig Ziglar, Art Linkletter and Norman Vincent Peale. He was reared in farming communities in England and Stuttgart, Ark. and has spoken to over 3,200 clients in 50 states and 14 countries. His speaking philosophy is simple, describing it as, “My job as a speaker is to put a smile on faces, information in minds, motivation in hearts and make the program planner look good.”

This year’s show has 90 entries. Clint Perkins judged the hay on physical characteristics and the Texas A&M Forage Lab will test each sample for protein content. The two scores will be combined and the top growers will be honored at the Hay Show. The top 30 growers hay will be auctioned at the beginning of the program.

Proceeds from the sale of the hay are used to sponsor scholarships and promote other youth agricultural activities including the local livestock show in the spring.

All are invited to attend the show and enjoy the meal prepared by Seth’s Lake Fork Creek Steak and Seafood as well as the speaker and the auction.
