Area students gain college honors, degrees
LeTourneau University
The following students were named to the Spring 2020 Dean’s List at LeTourneau University in Longview. The Dean’s List recognizes students who have achieved a grade point average between 3.50 and 3.99 for the semester.
Hawkins – Daniel Beggs, Senior, Engineering
Quitman – Faith Reeves, Junior, Computer Science
Winnsboro – Harrison Gomez, Senior, Mechanical Engineering
Georgia State University
Johnnie Bowers of Quitman was named to the spring 2020 President’s List at Georgia State University in Atlanta.
To be eligible for the President’s List, degree-seeking students must have earned a GPA of at least 4.0 for a minimum of nine semester hours of academic credit during the fall or spring term with no incompletes for the semester. Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 for all classes taken at Georgia State.
University of Alabama
The University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa awarded 6,326 degrees this spring.
Among the graduates was Claire Pickens of Mineola, who received a bachelor of arts.
Summer commencement events are scheduled for Friday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1.
