Area-wide Easter egg hunt set for April 20 at Hawkins city park

Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of Easter eggs are being collected at Holly Brook Baptist Church for an area-wide Easter egg hunt on the Saturday before Easter.

Church members are filling plastic eggs with treats for children and will bring them to the collection bin in the Family Life Center before April 20.

The eggs will be hidden in Hawkins city park for the hunt that will start at 10 a.m. on April 20.

Everyone is invited to the egg hunt, an Easter tradition that traces its origins centuries ago. The egg is a symbol of life and rebirth and came to represent the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

As part of the festivities, there will be an inspirational message, fun activities for the children, and a casual atmosphere, where people may meet and get acquainted with each other. The community-wide event is part of Holly Brook’s mission to “engage everyone to be God-focused, people-focused and transformed by the gospel,” said Pastor David LeFlore.

The church will have two worship services on Easter Sunday, April 21. The first will be at 8:30 a.m. and the second at 11 a.m. Sunday school will be at the usual time of 9:45 a.m.
