Mineola woman gets new type of scam call
A Mineola woman received a suspicious telephone call Monday morning that she didn’t fall for, but it was cunning enough that she came close.
The woman said that the caller told her they were updating her insurance and needed information. They had her name and address and telephone number. However, when they asked for her mother’s maiden name, she asked what insurance company they were with. They argued with her and then the caller hung up. However, a few hours later she received the same call, showing from the same originating number on her caller ID. That number was 214-716-5004. This time the caller was a female and she began questioning again. She didn’t get as far though when the woman asked her what insurance group she was with.
She said she was with “Medi Clinic” and the woman knew she did not have any insurance with anyone like that and she hung up on the caller.
“I just hope someone doesn’t get it,” she said, and give out critical information.
