The accolades continue to pile up for the back-to-back state champion marching band, Mineola's Sound of the Swarm.
They were honored with a banner next to the sign heading into town that designates their 2017 success.
They were recognized by Mineola Kiwanis as the citizen of the month, with their drum majors Tristan Kirk and Emily Phonsnasinh accepting the award.
At the band's banquet Tuesday, the Mayor proclaimed Dec. 10 "Mineola Yellow Jackets Marching Band Recognition Day."
The band marches into the concert season Thursday, Dec. 12 with the Christmas concert, and many of the students will play Dec. 15 and 17 as part of the Lake Country Symphony.
