Barbara Louise Moore Davenport, 1931-2019

Barbara Louise Moore Davenport passed away on Sept. 18, 2019 in Dallas. She was born on Aug. 12, 1931 in Mineola to Melvin “Denny” Moore and Margaret Estelle Moore. Mrs. Davenport graduated from Mineola High School and attended the Federal Business Institute in Tyler.

She married her husband of 67 years, Ivan Shelby Davenport, Jr., on Jan. 21, 1950. 

She worked as an administrative assistant for the Richardson and Tyler school districts. 

She was a fashion model working with Herman Marcus of Nieman Marcus in Dallas and she volunteered as a candy striper at Dallas Presbyterian Hospital. She loved to travel the world, fishing, camping and loved her family gatherings at the lake house in Palestine and the big red barn in Quitman. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. 

She is survived by their three children, Sue Storace and her husband John of Plano, Paul Davenport of Richardson and Jill Stewart and her husband Mark of Krugerville; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Mineola with visitation from 1-2 Saturday.
