Betty Jo Arney Lovil  1928-2020

Betty Jo Arney Lovil, 92, long-time resident of Wood County, passed away on Sept. 19, 2020 at UT Hospital in Tyler after a recent illness. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mineola and previously of Hainesville Baptist Church where she was an active member. She was a faithful Christian and practiced her faith by teaching the way to the Lord to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was born to Mary Auda and Thomas Arney on May 4, 1928 in Marianna, Ark. Betty met the love of her life, Herman Lovil, in Carthage, and they were married in DeQueen, Ark. on Feb, 22, 1944. He preceded her in death 18 years earlier. Also preceding were her beloved parents, four brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her three daughters, Ann Lovil of Tyler, Kay Lovil of Mineola and Kathy and husband, Richard White of Mountain View, Ark.; one son, Mark and wife Olga Lovil of Tupelo, Miss.; two sisters-in-law, Teresa Arney of Mineola and Janet Lovil of Carthage; brother-in-law, Dan Lovil of Carthage; 12 loved grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren all loved by their “Grandma.” Aunt Betty, as she was lovingly called, leaves many nieces and nephews. Graveside service is scheduled on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020 at 11 a.m. at New Hope Cemetery near Mineola.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family requests that all attending the service wear masks and keep a social distance. The service can be viewed on the funeral home Facebook page. Prior arrangements were made with Beaty Funeral Home, Mineola by the deceased as “She did it her way.”
