Bingo set to return Aug. 30 at Mineola American Legion

After being away for about three years, bingo at the Mineola American Legion Post 296 has returned beginning on the last Thursday of August.

Legion member J.R. Evans said the post received its license again recently after going dormant for two to three years.

“We’re very excited about having our license to have bingo and put the money to work for veterans and youth programs in the Wood County area,” Evans said.

Starting Aug. 30, bingo will be played each Thursday afterwards. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Early birds bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. and regular session at 7 p.m.

Evans said cash prizes will be awarded based on the people in attendance each night.

Proceeds will go to youth projects, veterans’ services, the Mineola veterans’ parade, sending students to Boys State in Austin every year and aid veterans.

The post is located three miles east of Highway 80 in Mineola.
