Jordyn Blalock and Jace Reid are the top graduates of the Quitman High School Class of 2020.

Blalock is valedictorian, and she is the daughter of Matt and Rachel Blalock of Quitman. 

She will be attending Texas Tech University to get a bachelors degree in animal science with  a focus on pre-professional health. After college, she hopes to attend dental school and become an orthodontist. 

Her eventual goal is to open up an orthodontist office close to Quitman since the closest offices are about an hour away. In high school, she has been involved in many activities. Blalock is the FFA chapter vice president, National Honor Society treasurer, student council member, and Key Club member. She has also taken 44 hours of dual credit college courses. 

The salutatorian is Jace Reid, son of Jim and Brooke Reid of Quitman. 

Reid will be headed to Bartlesville, Okla. to attend college and play basketball at Oklahoma Wesleyan University where he will major in kinesiology with hopes to become a high school teacher and coach. 

While at QHS, Reid has served as class president, student council secretary, National Honor Society vice president and was a Quitman Rotary Student of the Month. He is a member of First Methodist Church of Quitman and was a Salvation Army bell ringer.

He listed the major influences in his life as Jesus, his Mom and Dad and Coach James Warren.

Reid was on the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Academic All State team and the Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All State Elite team in basketball and cross country.

Rounding out the QHS Class of 2020’s top ten graduates are Jentri Jackson, Savannah Breding, Shelby Hayes, Cheyenne Williams, Andrea Soldevilla, Jaci Coley, Rayann Rowland and Ben Burroughs.

The QHS Class of 2020 will hold a virtual graduation to be broadcast Friday, May 22 at 7 p.m.
