The Texas Bowfishing Fall Brawl tournament is scheduled to take place on Sept. 7, from 8:00 p.m. to 3 a.m. on the Highway 154 boat ramp next to Minnow Bucket Marina. The event is officially sanctioned by the Texas Bowfishing Association.

The Texas Bowfishing Fall Brawl tournament is scheduled to take place on Sept. 7, from 8:00 p.m. to 3 a.m. on the Highway 154 boat ramp next to Minnow Bucket Marina. The event is officially sanctioned by the Texas Bowfishing Association. Each team can have two or three members, and entry fees are $20 per person, though children under 16 can shoot for free. Call 903-714-8601 for more information. Come to the Winnsboro Center for the Arts on Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. for the opening reception of the second annual "Women in the Arts" exhibition. On Sept. 14, the center will feature a concert with three singer/songwriters: Lynn Adler, Lisa Markley and Helene Cronin. The center is located at 200 Market Street (across from the depot) in Winnsboro. The Forever Young Activity Center in Quitman will host its third annual Health Fair on Sept. 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 404 S. Main Street. ETMC will provide health screenings, health-related information and counseling on health issues. Carter Bloodcare will also be onsite to conduct a blood drive. The Alba Country Fair is coming to the town square on Sept. 19, 20 and 21. Those who want to enter the pageant must complete and return entry forms to city hall or the library no later than Sept.11. Aaron Watson, a Texas country music singer and guitarist, will perform a free concert at Wood County Cowboy Church on Oct. 11 at 7:00 p.m. The doors open at 6:00, and the concert is open to all ages. Although the concert is free, there's a special contest on the church's Facebook page for tickets in the VIP section.
