Bulldog playoff chances hinge on final contests

A playoff spot may be on the horizon for the Quitman Bulldogs. The Bulldogs had to face Mineola Tuesday in a baseball contest on the road.

The Bulldogs took first-place Harmony to task last week, losing 5-2 after leading the game until the sixth inning.

Quitman’s Landon Richey took the loss, giving up four runs on three hits and striking out eight Eagle batters. Tommy Drinkwine started the game going three and a third innings, allowing three hits and striking out two Harmony batters.

Harmony scored two runs in the sixth and seventh innings after Quitman led 2-1 going into the final two innings. The Bulldogs managed just four hits. Landon Green had a hit and two RBI. Harmony pitchers struck out 14 Quitman batters.

The Bulldogs were defeated at Winnsboro last Friday 13-2. The Raiders pounded out 13 hits to seven for Quitman.

The playoff picture will be clear after Tuesday’s games this week.
