Carlisle downs Hawkins in District 16AA opener
Carlisle handed the visiting Hawkins Hawks a 55-46 loss Dec. 18 in the District 16AA boys basketball opener.
Carlisle led 16-10 after a quarter of play and opened up a 28-20 lead at halftime. The Hawks trimmed the lead to six at the end of three periods, 41-35, but Carlisle out-scored Hawkins 14-11 in the final quarter to secure the win.
The Hawks attack featured balanced scoring. Zach Conde netted 11 points, Paeton Smith hit for 10, Tristian Garrett scored 10, Collin Barber tallied seven and Camron Taylor added six. Smith and Conde also connected on three three-pointers, while Garrett drained one.
The Hawks host Como Pickton at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hawkins Tournament.
The Hawks JVs downed Carlisle 25-23.
