Charles Wayne Davis 1939-2020

Charles Wayne Davis, 80, of Mineola, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 in Quitman. He was born on Dec. 3, 1939 in Oklahoma City to the late John D. Davis and Lavanda Larrison Davis. He was retired from 23 years in the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic controller. After retiring from the military, he served 11 years in civil service as a boat shop manager at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Davis of Mineola; son, Kenneth Davis of Long Beach, Cal.; daughter, Lavanda Davis, husband Patrick Ervin and their son Anderson of Forney; sisters, Julia Anthony of Stockton, Cal. and Patty Varvas of California.

The family will schedule a memorial service at a later date due to current restrictions.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
