Chili cookoff benefits Kiwanis
Hot chili and a lively dessert auction were offered to a crowd of around 200 citizens at the 11th annual Mineola Kiwanis Chili Cook-off on Saturday, Feb. 22.
The Mineola First United Methodist Men took two awards including Best Decorated Booth and Judges’ Choice for Best Chili. Angela Albers was awarded the People’s Choice with Most Tips.
Ticket sales, booth and business sponsors, the silent auction, dessert sales and auction, and tips brought in $3,500 for the Kiwanis to continue serving the children of Wood County.
Other booth cooks were Wood County National Bank, R & R Properties, Brad McCampbell for District Judge, Mineola Fire Dept., MHS Key Club, Jarvis CKI and Methodist Youth. Event sponsors included City National Bank, Becky Moore Farm Bureau Insurance, Don Roberts Abstract, Community Chronicle, Rose Hill Apartments, Monica Cook State Farm Insurance and Highway 37 Storage. The Country Classics musical group was a crowd pleaser as always.
