Church hosting group study for single parents

Posted

The First Christian Church of Mineola is starting a small group specifically for single parents. The group will meet on Tuesday evenings, Feb. 25-May 12, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

A light meal, childcare and homework help for fifth grade and younger will be provided.

Single & Parenting features refreshing and biblical teaching on topics important to single parents. The video sessions and small group discussions offer effective parenting strategies, encouragement and insights on how to find rest and hope while parenting alone.

The videos will feature interviews with leading authors, counselors, speakers and pastors with years of expertise in helping single parents.

Video topics include tired and overwhelmed; your children and your fears; rest and comfort; money and career; parenting goals and expectations; suffering and adversity; emotions and stability; parenting tools and projects; parenting approaches and God’s love; talking and listening; conflict and resolution; and dating and single sexuality.

Each Single & Parenting meeting is self-contained and visitors are welcome to begin attending at any time. There will be opportunities to view missed videos.

Jim Albritton, one organizer of the Single & Parenting small group, says the church realizes the need is everywhere. They are hopeful that other area churches will get involved as the group grows.
