City intends to build lighted basketball court
The city of Mineola is expected to move forward this year on construction of an outside regulation basketball court near the city’s water tower along Wren Street between Front and Walnut.
City Manager Mercy Rushing briefed the City Council on the project during a work session on Jan. 24. A total of $55,000 has been budgeted for project, which includes a full-court basketball floor, lights, seating and a water fountain.
City public works Director William Crump said he expects the 47-to-96-foot court to run east to west. He told the council that he hopes to see the project completed by the end of August. The city intends to use MHS Planning and Design to design the project.
