The Hawkins cross country teams traveled last Monday, Oct. 17, for their district cross-country meet. The varsity girls picked up a second place finish and advanced to the regional meet.

The varsity Lady Hawks placed second after winning a tie-breaker with Linden-Kildare. Megan Haney finished second overall with Silvia Montgomery grabbing a top 10 finish at ninth place. Hannah Langford finished just outside the top 10 with 11th place.

Danielle Thompson finished 13th, Avery Frazier finished 14th, Keely Crawley finished 16th and Chyenne Kimbrell finished 22nd to round out the girls team.

In the varsity boys race, junior Preston Patterson finished 11th overall. The top 10 finishers qualify for the regional meet so Paterson just missed the cut.

The middle school teams also competed with Lynli Dacus finishing 11th, Kylee Simmons finishing 13th, Lola Posey finishing 17th, Madison Haney finishing 19th, Makena Warren finishing 21st, Jayden James finishing 23rd and Katryna Jones finishing 27th for the girls team.

Paeton Smith finished in second place for the boys team. C.J. Thompson, Hayden Smith and Nick Stevenson also finished for the middle school boys team.
