Commissioners OK county COVID leave policy

Posted

Wood Commissioners met in special session Tuesday morning to adopt a resolution approving the county COVID leave policy. The resolution was approved unanimously.

In the event an employee becomes hospitalized for more than 48 hours due to COVID-related health issues and has exhausted their administrative leave, up to 10 days additional leave can be granted.

If symptoms are present: employee is to quarantine and test as soon as possible. If test is positive employee leave is covered for 14 day days under administrative leave. If employee is well by the 10th day with no symptoms and has not run fever in the previous 14 hours, without the use of fever reducing medication, they may return to work on the 11th day. If employee tests negative, the time of quarantine awaiting test will be covered under “B” leave (exposure). After a negative result, the ill employee will be on their own sick leave until they return to work.  If an employee refuses to be tested, A (administrative) or B (exposure) leave is not available for their use. Only 14 days of administrative leave can be used in 2021.

If a dependant is positive and an employee must provide care due to dependant testing positive for COVID, the employee must inform their supervisor of the need for leave and shall be granted up to 14 days administrative (A) leave.

Wood County employees who need or are required to test for COVID shall contact Tully Davidson, emergency management coordinator, at 903-569-7327, who will provide instructions for getting tested through county contract or testing services.
