Commissioners OK members of children’s boards
Wood County Commissioners approved the Wood County Child Welfare and Child Protection board member roster submitted by Board President Sam Scroggins Tuesday.
All potential and active board members have been cleared with the state’s prescribed background check. Board member Marlene Routh resigned in August and Janet Copeland, Yantis, was approved. Members of both boards are limited to six-year terms.
Child Welfare Board members are Dina Allred, Janet Copeland, Bob Kraemer, JoAnn McMillan, Lindsey Peterson, Susan Resnik, Lisa Rockhill, Keith Sparkman, Sally Attaway, Tracy Edwards, Karyn Margos, Sandy Narkiewicz, Mary Pruett Loomis, Marilyn Robinson, Sam Scroggins and Suzy Bain.
Commissioners removed Pam Thurman from the ballot for Wood County Appraisal District Board of Directors.
Dr. Beverly Waddleton was appointed to the Andrews Center Board of Trustees for the at-large position #8, and Mary Lookadoo was reappointed to position #4 on the Andrews Center Board.
A right-of-way easement giving access to a home was approved for Justin Canaday and Robby Huddleston at Lake Winnsboro. Wood County will not be responsible for issues related to maintenance, repairs, water damages or flooding.
The lease agreement for Lake Hawkins RV Park was amended. Normallly, RV sites may not be held by guests for more than 10 days consecutive days. However, in order to increase revenue during the winter months, the amendment allows RV sites may be held longer than the 10 days.
Maddox Air Conditioning, Inc. was approved for county wide maintenance offering a program of regular inspection and periodic preventative maintenance that can add years of life to all of the county’s air conditioning systems.
There were two personnel moves. Carol Denson was hired by the Elections Office as a temporary worker at $10 per hour, and in the Wood County Sheriff’s Office Angela Speakman transferred from being a Jailer to Dispatcher at $20.14 per hour.
Commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding between Wood County and East Texas Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (ETCADA) in an effort to provide substance abuse prevention.
Commissioners approved the renewal of the contract with Southern Health Partners to handle health care at the Wood County Jail. Wood County and Southern Health have been partnered for nine years.
A road permit was approved for County Road 4760 from FM 312 on a request by Bullard Timber Company of Pittsburg to haul logs to Cypress Lumber in Mt. Pleasant.
