“Cooking Well with Diabetes” classes offered by extension

“Cooking Well with Diabetes” is a series of four classes packed with current nutrition information and delicious diabetes friendly recipe demos/tasting.

The classes are designed for individuals or family members of those with diabetes, whether newly diagnosed or those wanting a refresher/update class.

Sponsored by the Wood County AgriLife Extension Office, the classes will be held on Wednesdays in October (Oct. 9, 16, 23, and 30) at 10 a.m. at the Wood County Extension Office, 618 S. Main St. Quitman.  Registration for the class series is $20 per person (which covers all four classes). Please register prior to the classes by visiting or calling the Wood County Extension Office at 903-763-2924.

The class topics will be:

*Carbohydrate Foods- recognizing carbohydrates in recipes and using sweeteners effectively

*Healthy Fats/Fat Substitutions

*Healthy Side Dishes- reducing sodium and increasing fiber in recipes

*Celebrate Sensibly-healthy, delicious special event recipes
