County 4-H’ers advance to District Food Show

Wood County 4-H held its annual 4-H Food Show on Monday, Nov. 26 for members who have been participating in the Food/Nutrition project. At the Food Show, the 4-H’ers were judged in an interview setting on the food they had prepared and the members knowledge of its nutritional value, food safety, and the MyPlate recommendations.

County 4-H’ers advance to District Food Show

Wood County 4-H held its annual 4-H Food Show on Monday, Nov. 26 for members who have been participating in the Food/Nutrition project. At the Food Show, the 4-H’ers were judged in an interview setting on the food they had prepared and the members knowledge of its nutritional value, food safety, and the MyPlate recommendations.

First-place winners are now eligible to advance to the District Food Show on Feb. 9. Event results are as follows:

Amanita Bautista-Mathias-1st Place Intermediate Nutritious Snacks

Kasey Rhodes-1st Place Intermediate Main Dish

Katelyn DeGorostiza-2nd Place Intermediate Main Dish

Ashtin Tullos-Blue Ribbon Intermediate Main Dish

Peyton Kruckner-Blue Ribbon Intermediate Main Dish

Jenna Haney-1st Place Sr. Fruits/Vegetables

Kierney Wallis-1st Place Sr. Breads/Cereals

Kaylee Smith-1st Place Sr. Main Dish

4-H Clover Kids also participating in the Food Show were: Jocelyn Cox, Lucas De Gorostiza, Sydney Rhodes, and Austin Tullos.

At the District 4-H Food Extravaganza on Feb. 9, Wood County 4-H will also have numerous members participating in the Food Challenge Contest, Food/Nutrition Poster Contest, Food/Nutrition Quiz Bowl Contest, and the Ag Product ID Contest.
