County library and fire funding approved
ood County commissioners approved county funds for libraries and fire departments last Tuesday.
The county sends $9,000 annually to public libraries in Alba, Hawkins, Quitman and Winnsboro.
The Mineola Memorial Library does not receive any public funding.
The fire department contributions are based in part on the number of calls reported.
County Judge Kevin White said the list is not complete as the county has not received all the requests.
Approved last week were Alba, $40,903; Coke Pleasant Grove $34,053; Hainesville, $38,513; Holly Lake, $34,833; Lands End, $31,765; Perryville, $33,119; Quitman, $53,663; Winnsboro, $45,853; and Yantis, $39,953.
The county budget for fire protection is $486,000.
Commissioners approved the sale of a used vehicle to the city of Hawkins for $7,500. The former constable’s vehicle is a 2018 Ford Explorer.
The lease agreement for the Lake Holbrook lake house was approved at $650 per month for one year to tenant Cory Rush.
