County promotes from within for interim IT department head
Wood County commissioners met in special session last Friday afternoon to discuss the vacancy in the county’s information technology (IT) department.
Abram Fythrett, who is on the IT staff, was named interim director by the commissioners. Former director Chris Flournoy resigned from the post recently and his last day was Jan. 10. In an email sent to Wood County employees, Flourney said, “I have recommended Abram to take over as IT director. It is my hope commissioners agree with my recommendation and appoint him as IT director as soon as possible. I believe there is no one more qualified than Abram to lead the IT Department. He has proven his ability and character over the years.”
Fythrett was approved as the acting interim director on a unanimous vote by commissioners. Dusten Spence will remain in his role as an assistant working for Fythrett in the IT department.
Commissioners are hoping to make a decision on a director in 60 days.
