Hubbard Chapel Baptist Church celebrates 125th anniversary
Hubbard Chapel Baptist Church (HCBC) will celebrate its 125th birthday this week
It was established the first week of September in 1888. In the ensuing years, many changes have been brought about in the physical sense of the building, according to HCBC spokesperson Carrol Schwing.
The church recently welcomed new pastor Rick Ellington to the congregation, Schwing said. Ellington worked in education for seven years, and for 29 years in the corporate world. His ministry experience includes teacher, deacon, Christian education director and financial planner.
He has a Master's degree in church ministry from Baptist Bible College. Ellington and his wife, Becky, have family background in Wood County, Schwing said. She serves as the pianist for the church and their daughter, Rachel, attends Howard Payne University. She is studying to become a school counselor and aid with youth ministry.
The Ellingtons welcome all community members to visit Hubbard Chapel.
The church will also be hosting a revival beginning Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon. There will bea6p.m.servicethat night as well, featuring Dr. Lynn Harris.
The revival will be held Sept. 9-10 at 7 p.m., and the nursery will be available. The public is invited to attend.
