Cowboy poetry gathering comes to Winnsboro

Autumn Trails continues this weekend with the Winnsboro Cowboy Poetry Gathering highlighted by cowboy poets from throughout the southwest and a Michael Martin Murphy concert Friday night, 7:30 p.m., at the Bowery Stage. There is also a street dance featuring Sunny Sweeny downtown on Market Street at 7:30 p.m.

There will be a Trail Riders’ welcoming parade Friday at 4 p.m. from the water tower to the city park. A mule rodeo is scheduled at the rodeo arena at 7 p.m.  

Saturday will be filled with cowboy poets from morning through the afternoon. The 9 a.m. session at the Winnsboro Center for the Arts is free to all. Learn more about cowboy poetry and enjoy a preview from several of the participating poets. Continuous sessions in two venues will give an opportunity to hear them all.

Sessions will be held at the Winnsboro Center for the Arts and The Depot, Broadway at Main.

The morning session is at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. There will be two shows in two different venues. The afternoon sessions are for 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. The day pass is $45 and allows attendance at all times – up to five live performances. The morning session is $25 and the afternoon is $35.
