Cynthia Louise Langford Chandler died unexpectedly and peacefully on November 1, 2019, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 69.

Cynthia is survived by her mother, Myrtie Jane Langford of Gilmer, Texas; husband, Gary Don Chandler; children, Garrett Chandler and daughter in law, Leah Peterson of Potomac Falls, Virginia, and Makala Gerland and son in law Devin Gerland of Caldwell, Texas; and grandchildren, Julianne Gerland, Houston Gerland, and Bowen Gerland. She is preceded in death by her father, Hugh Langford, and her brother, Steven Langford.

Cynthia was born on February 22, 1950, in Gilmer, Texas, to Hugh and Myrtie Jane Langford. She graduated from Mesquite High School in 1968. She married Gary Don, on December 31, 1976, four months after she met him on a blind date. They were happily married for 43 years. Gary Don and Cynthia welcomed two children, Garrett and Makala into their home, and Cynthia dedicated much of her adult life to her children and giving them every opportunity for success.

Cynthia was an accomplished seamstress, a lover of fine food and a logophile (you might have to look that up, but she wouldn’t have had to). She was passionate about traveling with Gary Don and loved new experiences. While adventurous, she was also incredibly happy to sit on her back porch and host a small gathering while “watching the hummingbirds.” She loved her grandkids with her whole heart, and they were her pride and joy.

As a lover of education, Cynthia dedicated her body to the medical school at Texas A&M University in College Station. A Celebration of Life is scheduled from 2 to 4 PM on November 9, 2019, at The Pavilion of Sammy and Shanis Young in Mineola, Texas located at 659 CR 2655. The celebration will be come and go. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Cynthia’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Quitman Public Library, the place she taught her children to love reading, located at 202 E Goode St, Quitman, TX 75783. The family would like to thank the exceptional nursing staff and doctors at UT Health Tyler for their outstanding care and dedication to Cynthia in the last weeks of her life.
