Daisy Dean Mays, 1933-2019

Funeral services for Daisy Dean Mays, 85, of Quitman, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, May 17 at Faith Baptist Church, Quitman. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home.

She died May 12, 2019.

Daisy was born on Oct. 6, 1933, in Longview to Charles and Ethel Foster. On Dec. 22, 1952, she married Bobby Mays. She was a Quitman resident for 45 years. She retired from First National Bank, Quitman. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, a past Pilot Club member, and ETMC auxiliary volunteer. Daisy was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Selinda Williams, and four sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Karen Gillam of Longview and Pam Cathey of Quitman; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
