Dallas man wins Legends Bass Tournament

A Dallas angler took home the top honors at Don Hampton’s Legends of Lake Fork Bass Tournament at Lake Fork Marina.

Lane Shaw reeled in a 13.78-pound bass in the 7 a.m. hour Friday and it held up to win the overall championship. Shaw took home a new Legends boat, an extra $500 for having the heaviest fish of the hour and several other prizes.

Don Overstreet won the heaviest fish over slot with a 10.25 pound fish and David Corbett won the heaviest fish under slot at 2.69 pounds. They also won Legend boats.

Over $333,000 in cash and prizes were given away during the tournament which raises funds for the “Wish to Fish Foundation.” The foundation gives young people an opportunity to fish with a guide and spend a day at the lake at no cost to their family.

A Sunday afternoon crowd of over 1,500 people was there for the final day of activities with checks written to all the winners and several prizes given away to the public. This was the 14th year for the tournament which has grown into one of the largest events in terms of attendance on the lake.
